Vivienne Westwood- In House Design

Vivienne Westwood is a English designer who used symbol throughout her collections, from the Stonehenge logo
for the Man range to the pirate Anglomania logo. She started her business in 1981. The logo she designed was very strong brand identity and
well known. But few year ago they were planing to change her logo to her handwriting, but just over the year her autograph has come to resemble
her logo. The meaning of the colour on her logo is gold mean colour of royalty and luxury, as she quite close to royalty. After she done everything
in- house, she works closely with Jo Campos and a team of ten designers. Then She has built up her own vocabulary of symbol when she know
how she want her idea to be and looks as good as she thought. The famous symbol she made was orb which is the part of the traditional British
heritage, held by Queen during the ceremonial opening of Parliament. Other symbol she include Pon, the young faun, He is half devil, half angel
and his hooves have been incorporated to shop in Westwood store as well. At the end she want her symbol to be recognizable and consistant
throughout the collections, not brand equity to the big brand like American or Italian corporate fashion house. The important thing is the brand
have to be creativity.

Creative Histories and Industries – Session 2

Consider the other sub-definitions of Creative Practices that you interact with on a daily basis

During 24 hours, keep a record of all of these that you encounter.

I been using camera taking photos for my research and also I have to draw for my idea as well. I think taking photo and drawing is part of graphic even though it's not graphic because in graphic I have to do that all the time. I think it's very useful because it is help me a lot with my work, research and my ideas. So I feel it's very useful.

Creative Histories and Industries – Session 2

How do you define your chosen specialism? What do you understand Fashion/Graphic Design/Photography/Fine Art as?

I chosen Graphic Design because I feel like graphic is interesting, every time when I look at a graphic image I feel how can they do that. Some image make me want to look into it more and more because it's very interesting. So I think this is the main reason why I chosen Graphic Design. I understand that graphic design is ubiquitous and endless because the world have to move forward so designer have to come up with something new all the time. To be a designer you have to be imagination and creative.

my Pic

My Video

Introductory Session Task

What was the last image, object or artefact that excited you? How, why & where did you encounter it?

The last image I see was old photo of Bristol Park Street. I felt this photo very interesting because it changed a lot if you compare to Bristol today. Some building might look the same but the thing I really like is University Of Bristol building because since that day in the picture to today, it's still look the same and it's look standout as well. I saw this photo in one pub & restaurant in Knowle West. After my I had a football match and we went to that pub for team talk and I saw this photo on their wall, which is I found it very interesting to look at Bristol history.

What excites you about your chosen area of Creative Practice?

I think this is a new experience for me because I never come across to this area before. But when I came in to this Creative Practice at Filton Wise campus I felt it's more organized compare to another college or university and also the facility in this college are modern and new. It make me feel comfortable to be here.

Why have you chosen to study it further?

I decided to study further because I feel like what have learn isn't enough. I like to gather more experience in graphic design. Also it very important to me to get a degree because back in my country it is very difficult to get a job without a degree.

What do you hope to achieve at the end of the 2 years? What would you like to be doing?

I'll do my best in this 2 years. I will produce the best of my work and hope to get good results. Also gather experience as much as I can. I like to study further my third year at UWE and go back to my country and work as a graphic designer.

What sorts of things have you made work or written about or researched specifically before? e.g are you interested in a particular genre, issue, subculture etc?

I did ND Graphic Design last year and I really like doing logo design because it is very interesting and everywhere need logo, some logo are looks interesting and some are not. Also when I did my ND in graphic design I did some logo design for Bristol Zoo and Jewellery shop which I really enjoy it.

What excites you now?

I still think logo design is excite me the most and also I quite interest in photography as well.

What sorts of arts, design, performance, media, events etc do you go & see, or take part in?

I went to see Banksy couple month ago and I like it a lot. I think his work are different from other artist because he always come up with something opposite to other artist does, and his idea was amazing as well. I like the one when a farmer was sitting down and smoking outside the frame.

What do you read? What feeds your interests?

I don't really read anything particular, but sometime when I see nice images or piece of work on the cover of book or magazine, I would look at it and read it. I also interesting in football, so sometime I read football magazine. In football magazine sometime gives you ideas and nice graphic images as well.
